Edwin “Taco” Martinez, of Newtown, and a juvenile female were arrested for a variety of drug-related offenses subsequent to an investigation by the Danbury Police Department’s Special Investigations Division, said Danbury Det. Lt. Mark Williams.

The investigation began weeks earlier after investigators received information that Martinez was selling illegal drugs throughout the Danbury Area. Based on the investigative finding, affidavits were sent to the Danbury Superior Court requesting search and seizure warrants be issued for Martinez, a phone, a car and the Bethel residence of the juvenile, Williams said.

On Dec. 19 around 3:15 p.m., Martinez and the juvenile were stopped by investigators of the Danbury and Bethel Police Department after they entered a local business in Bethel. The search and seizure warrants for the car and Martinez was initiated at that time, he said.

About five minutes later, investigators entered the Bethel residence and initiated the final search and seizure warrant.

Based on the finding of each search, a substantial quantity of liquid THC, leaf marijuana, cocaine and benzodiazepine, Martinez and the juvenile were placed under arrest and transported to the Danbury Police Department where they were charged and later released, Williams said.

Martinez was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
